FAQs

  • Can I use my healthcare benefits?

Yes. Our therapists are 2200-hour RMTs. We recommend you inquire with your insurance provider about exactly what they cover. Most insurance plans cover massage therapy, whether a percentage or a certain dollar amount. You will be emailed an itemized receipt after your treatment that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

If you are receiving a treatment other than massage, we suggest you inquire about coverage with your insurance.

If you are purchasing a gift certificate, a purchase receipt will be issued to you; this is not applicable for insurance reimbursement.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept email fund transfers, Debit, VISA, Mastercard, and American Express.

If you plan to pay via email fund transfer, please send the payment right before the session starts, as delivery time varies. We don’t want you having to wait to confirm the payment came through after your session!

  • What do I do when I arrive?

    Parking:

Underground access behind the building, between 8th & 9th Street SW. Enter the alley and the grey door marked “Parking” and park in a stall marked “District Studios”: available on both levels. These stalls are free!

Visitor parking stalls are available for a nominal fee if our stalls are full, or you can utilize street parking (free after 6 pm — check parking signs).

Don’t forget to scan the QR code at the front desk to register your vehicle parking!

    Main Street Entrance:

If you are arriving from the street entrance, enter the building directly under the “927 10th Avenue SW” sign (entrance located between businesses Posh nail lounge and Royal tea).

Come up to the 2nd floor (follow the signs from the parkade): District Studios. If the concierge is available, please check-in with them. Otherwise, there will be an iPad at the front for you to check-in, and we will be with you shortly!

  • Can I purchase a gift certificate?

Absolutely! This can be done in person or via email to info@genesiswellness.ca.

Let us know what treatment and duration you’d like to purchase, and what the TO and FROM should state. We will email you a purchase receipt as well as the certificate that you can either print or forward to the lucky client.

They will contact us once they are ready to book.

  • How do promotions work?

Promotional pricing cannot be combined with additional offers or packages, and applies to full-priced treatments only.

Promotions are not transferable to another client and are non-refundable.

Promotions are subject to availability and are available for a limited time.

  • What areas of my body will be massaged?

This depends on what we are working on. You will be covered at all times with a sheet and only the area we are treating will be undraped.

Some modalities, such as lymphatic drainage, require the therapist to access lymph nodes around the inner thigh, abdomen, and armpits. The draping is slightly different. We will discuss this prior to the treatment and gain informed consent from you.

  • How often should I book a treatment?

If we are working on a specific concern or area, a treatment plan will be created, and timing will vary from person to person.

For massage maintenance, we recommend every 4-6 weeks.

For other modalities, we will advise you on how many sessions are recommended.

  • Do I have to remove my clothes?

We want you to be comfortable, so the decision is yours. For a traditional massage, you will undress and lie on the table under the sheet, and the area we are working on will be undraped. You will change in complete privacy.

Fascial Stretch Therapy is performed fully clothed. Please wear or bring athletic clothing that allows movement, such as gym pants and a T-shirt.

Lymphatic drainage will either use towels for draping, depending on the area(s) we are treating, or traditional massage draping will be used.

For our other modalities, we will chat when you book and advise you on how to prepare.

  • Will I experience any pain or soreness?

There may be mild discomfort during a session, depending on what modality we are doing.

There are multiple factors that play into this, so the easiest answer is yes, there is a possibility of some mild soreness during and after a session, equivalent to the muscle soreness you may feel after a good workout.

After lymphatic drainage, you may feel tired and it is common to urinate more frequently, as your body adjusts to the fluid flow and excretes toxins.

We always tell clients to speak up and let us know if they are uncomfortable at any point, and we can make the necessary adjustments.

  • When should I not receive specific treatments?
